Brahea edulis

Brahea edulis is a single-stemmed evergreen palm growing 10 - 12 meters tall. The unbranched stem can be up to 40cm in diameter; it is topped by a crown of about 20 large leaves.
BARK : do not have growth rings. Leaf stalks have small or no spines.
LEAVES:  green, wide fan shape, center rib, fan divides past half-way point into many long fingers.
FLOWERS:  pale yellow, clustered on long plumes.
FRUIT:  round, 3/4" - 11/8" in diameter, edible, yellow, brown or black, thin sweet flesh, with a date-like or caramel taste.

An ornamental palm.

Guadalupe Palm is native to South-western N. America. It grows in dry woodlands, usually on limestone soils, steep, rocky slopes, dry scrub on rocky volcanic slopes and cliffs on the foggy north-west slope of Guadalupe Island. In Kampala, this tree can be found within Makerere University among other places.

Slow-growing. Pruning to remove old or dead fronds.
