Callistemon shiressii

White bottle brush is a shrub or small tree that grows at a height of 1.5–12 m. .
BARK: pale, papery.
LEAVES: narrow-lanceolate, 2–4 cm long, 6–8 mm wide, apex acute to ± acuminate and pungent, margins often recurved, lower surface paler and with distinct lateral veins, midrib prominent.
FLOWERS: cream or greenish-cream, s pikes usually 3–5 cm long, c. 2 cm diam.; rachis densely tomentose when flowering. Filaments 8–10 mm long.
FRUIT: smooth, apex constricted, soon shed.

An ornamental tree.
Agroforestry: can be planted as a windbreak, binds soil particles together.

White bottle brush is native to Australia. It grows in moist forests and on ridges, occasionally along riverbanks. The shrub prefers a sunny situation on moist soil. In Kampala, this species is found in areas of Acacia avenue, along Entebbe road, along Prince Charles drive, within Makerere University among other places.
