Description
A tree fern reaching 5m in ideal conditions, with a slender stem and mid-green fronds up to 4m long.
BARK: slender trunk usually about 3 - 6" thick, sometimes growing to 30' high, and puts on growth very quickly.
LEAVES: green, rosette.
FLOWERS: No flowers.
FRUITS: No fruits.
Uses
It is suitable as feature and shelter plants in both Native and Tropical gardens, grown singular or in a grove.
Ecology
C. cooperi is naturally found in tropical lowlands, along the coast of Queensland and New South Wales. It is naturally found in tropical lowlands, tropical and sub-tropical rainforest, and montane forest. It will need winter protection to survive or grow in a pot and take indoors over the winter period. It prefers tropical or sub-tropical climates on moist well drained soil. It grows best in high humidity with moist soils, responding well to organic fertilisers and well-rotted animal manures. Avoid hot, dry, windy locations.
