From the 24th to 26th September 2026, the African Resilience & Development Agency (AFRDA) will run a Coffee Resilience & Farmer Extension Training of Trainers (ToT) under its Uganda Coffee Development Project across 3 districts in 3 regions of Uganda namely Kapchorwa district in Eastern Uganda, Kalungu district in Central Uganda and Kasese district in Western Uganda.

Over three days, community field trainers will get practical, field-oriented knowledge in coffee establishment, climate-smart agronomy, sustainable land management, pest and disease management, harvesting, post-harvest handling, drying, storage and coffee quality improvement.

Each trainer or participant will carry that knowledge into their own communities, working directly with farmers and adding to the extension support already available in coffee-growing areas.

Through this approach, AFRDA expects to reach more than 5,000 coffee growers across Uganda, helping them build more productive, climate-resilient and quality-focused coffee enterprises.

With climate pressures and shifting production conditions putting real strain on farming livelihoods, building up the capacity of the people working closest to and with the farmers is a meaningful investment in the long-term future of Uganda’s coffee sector.
